Enmgineering And Design Concepts

Engineering And Design Concepts was founded in 2009 as Consulting Engineering Company to help out some long time, close, and personal friends that Owned and Operated small Construction Companies that could not afford to pay the extremely high rates that Engineering Firms charge for their services. So for over 10 years EDC worked to help small Contractors get Professional Engineering Services at very affordable rates, well below what the Bigger design firms charge. As I could afford to do so since I have spent the 30 years working for ENR Top 10 Heavy Civil Construction firms. But in February of 2017 life took a big turn with the passing of my beloved Mother Pamela G. Caudill. My Mother was an avid supporter of the Arts. As she was a Graduate of the New York School of Art and was a Needlework Artist who has won several awards for her Cross Stich. She also believed in supporting the local farmers and artists, as she always felt that hand made products were always far superior to those that are mass produced, and always looked for made in the USA. So during the weeks and months that passed during the time I was taking care of my Mothers final affairs. I came across some hand turned vessels and other handmade custom wood items. I started to think back to my days of youth when I was working in a Custom Mill Work Shop to help pay my way through Engineering School, producing replacement Columns, Moldings, Stairs, and Doors for home, along with Cabinets, Library’s, and Custom Furniture. It was at that time EDC would morph into what it is today. A small family run Custom Wood Shop, that every piece that is constructed by EDC lives up to the High Standards of my Mother. She believed in the quality of Handmade, the perfection, and attention to detail that only comes from an Artist. And she also believed in buy American, and at EDC we carry on with that tradition as much as we can. As some of the woods that we use in creating some of the pieces are from around the world. But finishes, hardware, some of my tools, are all made right here in the USA. We strive at EDC to buy only the best materials from small local vendors to show our support for the hard working American Small Family owned and operated business. So with the support of my Loving Wife Kathleen A. Caudill and my beloved Step daughter Tessa B. Deno and my little grandson Hudsyn, who I hope one day to share all of the knowledge and techniques of the Old European Master Furniture Makers that was afforded to me. So we begin this journey in the hopes to live up to the what my Mother would have wanted EDC to be. EDC offers a full service Woodwork and Millwork with my focus on Custom Wood Turning, Furniture, and Cabinets. Kathleen and Tessa working with our Full Size Laguna CNC Machine making Toll Painting Kits, Signs, Plaques, and Children’s Toys. And as always our focus is quality, attention to detail, and living up to my Mothers memory of handmade cost more, but handmade art is better, and will last a life time. God Bless, Scott C. Caudill
