Description of Event:
The City of Garfield Wash Pot Festival is held each May as a joint project of the Garfield Volunteer Fire Department and the Garfield Masonic Lodge. This year's event is slated for May 21st, 2011. The celebration centers around delicious foods cooked over open flames, many in authentic wash pots. Be sure to try sweet potatoes boiled in pine resin--you'll never eat a better sweet potato. Other favorites are fried chicken, barbecue, Brunswick stew, lacy corn bread, chicken and dumplings, creamed corn, butterbeans and much more. A parade, arts and crafts, local dancers and musicians, antique cars and antique tractors are featured during the event.Information:
