Transylvania, Romania might be the origin of Count Dracula’s character, but Brevard has the best celebration! (And it’s the closest Transylvania there is!) We have a full day’s worth of family fun and light-hearted celebration of the spookiest day of the year! At 10:00 am on October 25th in downtown Brevard you’re sure to find something that will suit. Come in costume, (of course), and be a part of our annual Costume Contest and Parade. We’ll have special recognition for all ages! You’ll also find Chili Cook-off and Pie Bake-off, street vendors, a Pumpkin Carving Contest, and a Pumpkin Roll down Jailhouse Hill!
If you’re musically inclined, you’ll want to check out our Mountain Music Mash - the best amateur music competition in town! If you’re not musically inclined, bring a chair, and just sit and listen for a while.
Winding down the day is Brevard’s own 3rd Annual Osktoberfest!! Brought to you by Oskar Blues brewery, it begins at 6:00 pm with live music, a beer garden, and plenty of eats. While you’re enjoying the music, you can watch the beginning (at dusk) and the end of the Flight of the Vampire 5K as vampires, zombies, and ghosts (disguised as runners) cross the finish line into town. Everyone is sure to find something to please on this Spooktacular Halloweenfest in Transylvania County!!
