Description of Event:

The last Saturday of September each year, Pottsboro celebrates Frontier Day. This is Pottsboro's way of remembering the cattle drives beginning in the 1850's and others traveling the Shawnee Trail which spanned from the Red River into Dallas. Settlers who decided to stay versus pass through formed the community of Pottsboro. The cattle drives ceased in the 1870's, but the history will never be lost and the annual celebration in Pottsboro continues. This year's celebration will take place on Saturday, September 27th in Friendship Park. A carnival will be in town the night before with special wrist band pricing for access to all the rides. Saturday, the carnival will continue with ticketed rides. The park, with free admission, will open at 9:00am followed closely by a parade starting from a location on Hwy 120 west of the park and ending at Friendship Park. There will be children's activities in the park in addition to the carnival attraction. Also, dozens of crafts and food vendors will be on site to satisfy the whole family. Live entertainment will start around 10:00am provided by local students followed by a band from 1:00pm until the festival wraps up at 4:00pm. The entertainment will be found at the gazebo in the park. Hours: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
