Description of Event:

The inaugural Susquehanna Folk Festival is an annual two-day music, dance, storytelling, and craft festival held on July 28-29, 2018 at beautiful Roundtop Mountain Resort in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania
Headliners for this exciting inaugural festival include the legendary David Bromberg (Sunday), four-time Grammy Award winner David Holt (Saturday), the great blueswoman Rory Block (Saturday), the Texas Swing fiddling Quebe Sisters (Saturday and Sunday), local favorites Neidig, Koretzky, Gehret, and Campbell (Saturday and Sunday), circus arts from the Give and Take Jugglers, stunning dancing from the Kulu Mele African Dance and Drum Ensemble (Sunday), Bluegrass sounds from The Claire Lynch Band (Sunday), Celtic virtuosity from Trian, featuring Liz Carroll (Saturday and Sunday), and more!
The Susquehanna Folk Festival will present nationally and internationally touring artists as well as regional and local talent on five stages including the Main Stage, the Cabaret/Dance Stage, the Coffeehouse Stage, the Bluett Bros. Violin’s Workshop Stage, and the Family Stage. There will also be a Pickin’ Place for musicians to gather and exchange tunes. A highlight of the festival will be the Emerging Artist Showcase which will be held on Sunday.
In addition to music, the festival will feature storytelling performances and circles and a robust dance focus including a Saturday evening contra dance with the popular dance band Pete’s Posse with calls by Kathy Anderson (Saturday). There will be a wide selection of crafts for sale and many artisans and crafters will be demonstrating their art.
There will be plenty to do for children and families too. Crafts by June Bug City Crafts will be offered all day long in the Patio Family Area, and there will be circus performances and a “learn to juggle” workshop by the Give and Take Jugglers on Saturday. Other fun events will include a join-in jug band, children’s theater, hip-hop dance, African drumming, and a chance to learn to play the ukulele!
Food will be available on site and a selection of craft beer and wine from local wineries will be available in the evenings. The festival is held rain or shine as all of the stages are indoors or under tents and the festival grounds are handicapped accessible.
The festival is produced by the Susquehanna Folk Music Society, an arts organization that has presented concerts, dances, workshops, coffeehouses, and jams in Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster for 30 years.
