Description of Event:
West Allis, WI) – Save the date for Milwaukee’s first Oktoberfest at Kegel’s Inn! Organizers took a bold approach to this year’s festival and received approval to close the East End of National Avenue from 58-60th Street for the entire weekend. The extra space will allow for long-term growth of the festival, and give room to the 50 vendors that will create the street festival. New for this year, Kyle T Cherek, Host of Wisconsin Foodie, will MC the stein holding contests. Look forward to his stories that connect his experience at last year’s Oktoberfest in Munich, with the German heritage in Milwaukee, Kegel’s Inn and the newly opened local street food inspired - PublicTable. Admission to the festival is free and family friendly.
On Friday, August 24th, festivities start at 4pm when the National Ave Street Festival opens. Along National, you’ll be greeted by 40 vendors in a main street leading to the Hofbräu HB Beer Garden outside of Kegel’s Inn. Look forward to free beer giveaway after the City of West Allis officially welcomes PublicTable to the growing list of fabulous restaurants in the area. Highlights for the night will include listening to German music on the Miller Lite Semi Truck Stage, while enjoying Friday Night Fish Fry hosted by Kegel’s Inn, sipping a German beer from many of Wisconsin’s local breweries. Food and beverage services begin promptly at 4pm. At 8pm, witness the grandeur of the Stein Holding Contest which run every several hours during the weekend.
On Saturday, August 26th, the festivities on 59th & National will open at 10am. Look for more family friendly activities like face painting, bounce castles and a yard games for all ages. As the afternoon progresses, the lights of the festival will highlight many of the local breweries who will have German inspired brews. Music lovers will find music during all hours of the festival except while watching participants try their hand during the stein holding contests on the Miller Semi Stage. Beer Garden closes at 10pm.
On Sunday, August 27th, the Chris Kegel Slow Roll will occupy National Ave as they raise money for local bicycle infrastructure projects. This Free and family friendly bike ride will end at Kegel’s Inn for the after ride party. Free t-shirt, beer and food with online pre-registration. Slow 15 mile family bike ride.
