Description of Event:

James is a young man who has struggled throughout his life. A service dog will be life changing, even life saving for James. James’ illnesses have affected him deeply and made day to day life difficult. His symptoms and anxiety make it very difficult for him to be in crowds, even making it impossible for him to go to a grocery store or, at times, even to leave his house. Having a dog retrieve anxiety and migraine medications, interrupt repetitive and destructive thinking, be a companion to help him get to the grocery store, mingle with people while feeling safe, or even making phone calls will be life changing. Alerting James to anxiety and panic reactions and leading him out of anxiety producing situations will help mitigate symptoms before they become debilitating. Being responsible for a dog that unconditionally loves him will give James the motivation to get out of bed each day. Going to a parade, a sports game, or even going out with friends will be enjoyable instead of anxiety inducing. These are just some of the ways a Psychiatric Service Dog will be life altering for James. With the help of DiggityDogs, and United Church in Clinton, we are holding a benefit fund raiser on June 16th from 10am-3pm.
At The United Church of Clinton to help offset the cost of a fully trained and certified dog from DiggityDogs Service Dogs, Inc. and start James on a path of health, vitality and wholeness.
