Prosecco can rightfully be considered the world’s most popular wine, yet it is also one of the most misunderstood. First of all, many people are not aware there’s more than one of them (two brand new Prosecco appellations were created in 2009). And, while many—consumer and professional alike—view Prosecco as a pleasant but frivolous inexpensive alternative to other sparkling wines, there’s actually much more to the Italian bubbly than meets the eye. In this session we will take a full-immersion groundbreaking journey into the historic birthplace of Prosecco, in the hills just north of Venice, to explore its ancient traditions, complex geology, and multi-faceted appellation. Overall, this session will change the way you think about Prosecco and provide a compelling example of wine as the expression of an amazing place and its long viti-culture.
