The 5K race is sponsored be the Port City Pacers, it will lead right into the ""Crisis at Fort Gaines"". The Election of 1860 was as controversial as the Election 2000. Come see how this turmoil rolled Dauphin Island into the headlines of the National Newspapers. Experience fort life for the nervous U.S. troops garrisoning a Federal installation deep in a land growing increasingly hostile to the Government in Washington City and on the verge of formal secession from the Union.
