Description of Event:

Food and Music lovers will fill the streets at the
Highlands Business Partnership’s 23rd Annual Clam Festival from August 3rd to August 6th at Huddy Park on Bay & Waterwitch Avenues. The famous Clam Festival is a four-day spectacular event featuring a 120’ seafood court serving the freshest food from many of Highlands’ famous restaurants. Admission and parking is free, and the event takes place rain or shine.

The 23rd Annual Clam Fest will feature a Beer and Wine Garden on the corner of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues sponsored by Shore Point Distributing Company. Blue-sky Amusements will set up the midway and Paladin Amusements will provide an action packed game court. Portions of Waterwitch and Bay Avenues will be closed to street traffic to accommodate the specialty vendor’s marketplace and the succulent food court with many popular Highland’s restaurants such as Chilangos, Francesco’s and Lusty Lobster. Other festival favorites and a landlubber menu will also be available. The Highlands Fire Department BBQ tent will have their famous ribs, burgers, hot dogs and more. There will be plenty of novelty foods such as the Lions Club Funnel Cakes, Fruit Smoothies, Ice Cream, and much more.

On Thursday, August 3rd, the action takes place from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. Opening night, is “Pay One Price Bracelet Night,” when visitors can enjoy the amusement rides all night from 6:00 -10PM. Local favorite Brian Kirk & The Jirks will perform and DJ Johnny will emcee the festival and play all your favorite tunes.

Clamfest hours are 6:00 to 11:00PM on Friday, August 5th, with entertainment by the Carnival Dogs from 7:00—11:00PM. On Saturday, August 5th, the festival begins at noon, with the Highlands Community Singers featuring their hit, “Happy As A Clam”; That Band is on stage from 12:30 - 3:30PM followed by local favorites, the Due South Band from 4:00 – 7:30PM, and The Jonzes from 8:00 –11:00PM.

Clamfest hours on Sunday, August 7th, are noon to 8:00 PM with Pay-One-Price ride bracelets available. The Kootz Band will be performing on the stage from 12:00– 3:00 PM.

The Clamfest’s world-class CLAM-SHUCKING COMPETITION kicks off at 3:00 PM sponsored by Lusty Lobster and has a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizewinner to the person who finishes shucking their Clams first.

The famous ALL YOU CAN EAT CLAM CONTEST will begin promptly at 3:30 pm. This is also a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize contest to the person who can eat the most clams from their bucket in five (5) minutes. The ALL YOU CAN EAT CLAM CONTEST will be limited to twenty entries. Registration for ALL Contests begins at Noon.

At 4:00 PM, Frank James will take the stage, which includes a special tribute to “The King”. The Highlands Business Partnership’s “King of the Clam” super 50/50 drawing will be drawn on Sunday, August 6th at 7:00pm. We will also be raffling off His & Her Beach Cruisers from Kranky Cycles.
