MD Four Seasons Fine Art and Craft Markets

March 2009

Indoor, Air conditioned Juried Fine Art and Craft Market Offers Fun and Relief from the Heat

– The MD Four Seasons Fine Art and Crafts Market – Summer Market, is quickly approaching taking place from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. both Saturday and Sunday. This up-coming artist-run, juried Market is the second of three seasonal Fine Art and Craft Events all held indoors and in the air-conditioned/heated arena at the Carroll County Agriculture Center and believe it or not, spaces are still available!

Patrons can come and see handcrafted, fine art and fine crafts ranging from functional, rustic bird feeders to high quality, one-of-a-kind jewelry, as well as breathtaking photography from regional and local artists. The Markets offer art enthusiasts the opportunity to find one of a kind fine art and fine crafts at affordable prices all in one easy to find location. With a $3 admission fee, patrons get free parking and a complimentary 11x17 program. The Ag. Center is also hosting other events this same weekend, great for those looking for something different to do this Summer close to home and get more bang for your buck.

Artists find our events to be a gem in the rough. We do a lot for our artists such as cash back artist incentives. An example is our Artist referral program. Accepted exhibitors can make $25 per referring artists to our events, once they are accepted we cut the referree a check – not strings attached. Our advertising style is unique, we push the envelope always coming up with new and creative ways to get the word out about our shows much to the thanks of our artists feedback. One example is sponsoring the Carroll County 4-H and FFA Fair that occurs at the same location as our events, just two weeks prior too. Being a sponsor to this events gets the word out to over 75,000 people. Through sponsoring this event we are supporting a good cause – 4-H youth, and get tremendous advertising coverage through newspapers, anouncements throughout the day, and a 10x10 booth. Our booth allows us to distribute $1 off admission coupons and flier and we are even opening it up to our artists get even more exposure, for free, by signing up to be a Meet and Greet the Artist sharing the 10x10 space at the 4-H Fair. We also are implimenting an 11x17 size program which includes featured artist articles, layout of the venue, ads from local businesses with discount ads for artists, discount coupons for admission to our Fall Market, and so much more – its like a collectors item, guide, and promotional tool all in one.

“The MD Four Seasons Markets began after show goers voiced their disappointment to me regarding the lack of variety and good quality art made by the people selling them,” states Michelle Sholund, promoter of the events. “Local artists also share this concern as they are constantly seeking shows close to home to keep expenses low giving them the ability to make more money. Listening to these needs, I came up with the motto “Putting ART back into art and craft shows” and applied it to these fun seasonal markets.”

Artists are the main attraction. Each Market is fresh and new as each one has new local and regional exhibitors each season as well as some favorites too. Visitors will find a friendly, casual atmosphere allowing all to take time to meet and greet the artists as well as see them in action, demonstrating their work. If people cannot make the Summer Mark this August, check out the Fall Market held on October 25th and 26th all held indoors at the Carroll County Agriculture Center. Are you have any art shows in 2010.  I am a local folk artist.  I did the Ann Marie Garden Artfest this past September.  I am currently looking for shows in 2010.
