Craft Shows, Fairs, and Festivals in Colorado

March 2009

Alabama, commonly known as ‘the Heart of Dixie’ (or the cotton state or the yellowhammer state), is located in the southeastern region of the United States of America. Its name is thought to derive from the Choctaw word, meaning ‘thicket-clearers‘ or ‘vegetation-gatherers’. This state has witnessed many battles in American history, between settlers and Native Americans, as well as between the Yankees and the Confederates during the Civil War. The first of the three Space Camps, which let kids experience what it would be like in outer space, is also in Alabama. Montgomery is the state capital, and the camellia is the state flower. Alabama fairs and festivals include the Wiregrass Festival of Murals in Dothan, the Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery, the Spirit of America Festival in Decatur, and the Odyssey Music Festival in Camp Hill. Alabama craft shows, on the other hand, include First Monday Trade Days in Scottsboro, Cullman Mule Days in Cullman, the Atmore Mayfest in Atmore, Art in the Park in Foley, and Florence Arts Alive in Florence. These Alabama vendor events (and many more!) provide opportunities not only for tourists and visitors to enjoy, but also for vendors to find their markets and potential demographics.
