Description of Event:
The Winona Dakota Gathering, Homecoming and Powwow is an annual event for families of indigenous and local populations and around the region. Saturday will feature Kids activities and games, everything from storytelling to games to relay races to a scavenger hunt. The Live Native rock band, who describe their music as "Alter-Native", that will end out the Saturday night festivities. They will also be joined by Tom LeBlanc, who along with some others will be presenting spoken word. It'll also feature all traditional events, including a sunrise ceremony, talk circle, indigenous learning tent, moccasin tournament, Dakota Language Bingo, spiritual service and keynote speaker, genealogy tent, Native American craft and food vendors, unity feast and other food opportunities, flag rising ceremony, and most importantly the Grand Entry and Tribal dances.
