Description of Event:
It’s OFFICIAL, Watermelon Idol is BACK (Thanks to Scott Pharmacy in Fayette for sponsoring it), but with a TWIST! This year it will be similar to the NBC hit show “The Voice”, where the judges will not get to see the contestants, only hear them. Contestants have already sang a karaoke song and had at least 1 judge turn their chair, joining their team (or they were “Stolen” by another judge). Judges have built their teams and are now competing at the Finale. Go to www.fayettewatermelondays.com for all the details. The audience will vote by ballot for the Grand Prize winner who will receive $500 Cash, 2 hours recording time at Catamount Recording Studio and will sing the National Anthem at a Waterloo Black Hawks Hockey Game. (Cash prizes will be awarded for 2nd - 5th places, also) Try-out locations were on Saturday, Aug 15th 7-9PM at the Sumner American Legion and Friday, Aug 21st 7-9PM at the Oelwein American Legion. Finale will be held on Saturday, Sept 12th on the Main Street Stage during Watermelon Days. Come watch the entertainment and cheer on your favorite singers. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Following the show will be Fireworks and a LIVE Band.
