Description of Event:
Two days to to savor fresh oysters from all over Rhode Island, meet the growers, the shuckers. Join us in a festival where you’ll actually be helping aquaculture and local environment! Rhode Island oyster growers will join a select group of local restaurants on the waterfront under festival tents at historic Bowen’s Wharf.
Oysters draw their unique flavors from their environment. Rhode Island is home to many miles of clean coastline and upwards of 45 oyster farms. Each one is different, so this is your big chance to taste a bunch of them along with the accompanying sauces, beverages, and learn serving techniques.
Fun contests, wine pairings and cocktails will run concurrent alongside education about how oyster farming and aquaculture is good for the environment and our coastlines.
Locally owned restaurants will participate in an oyster hop so festival attendees can enjoy more oyster dishes off-site: Steamed, Roasted, Rockefeller, Fried, Stewed…as they say, the world is your oyster!
