Description of Event:

Heroes 2016 Chalk Art Festival Mission Statement:
Promote awareness and appreciation of the arts within the community. Engage with all members of the community regardless of age, social or emotional status using art as a means of inspiration, education, expression and common ground.

What is a Chalk Art Festival?
It is a festival with a theme where groups and individuals gather to create art on a parking lot. The materials that can be used are chalk pastels and sidewalk chalk. No permanent materials such as paints are allowed. Each group or individual pays a small entry fee to cover the expense of the chalk & size of space desired to work on. The participants have a full day to create their image. Art work created will be judged based on criteria and awards will be handed out. Music, food and artist vendors along with school clubs will have the opportunity to sell their goods.

What: Chalk Art Festival Sunday, May 29th, 2016
Where: Dryden MS-HS Lower Parking Lot
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
This event is free and open to the public

Guest Artist: Eric Maruscak (www.pepperink.com ) will create a work over the period of two days. He will begin his piece on Saturday and work through Sunday.
Eric will also be working at school with students in grades 6-12 enrolled in art classes before the event.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Dryden H.S. Art Club Senior Scholarship and future Chalk Art Festivals.
