Description of Event:
Great food, music, rides and family fun on the 2nd full weekend in October. The 2015 Gumbo Festival festivities begin on Friday, October 9th, and continue on Saturday the 10th and end Sunday the 11th. Bridge City's "world famous" Gumbo is cooked daily at the festival grounds and over 2000 gallons of both seafood and chicken/sausage gumbo will be prepared for the visitors during the festival. A variety of other native Louisiana cooking such as jambalaya, New Orleans style red beans and rice with sausage as well as hamburgers, hot dogs, onion mums, homemade cakes and candies, funnel cakes and many delicious surprises will also be available. Continuous live entertainment and a fais-do-do (dance) area provide a focal point for the festival's outdoor activities. Appearances by local and visiting bands of Cajun, Country, Zydeco, Jazz, Blues and Rock music highlight the Gumbo Festival'S attractions. The Bridge City Gumbo Festival will also feature Crafters, Beautiful Child Contest, Gumbo Cook-Off, Miss Creole Gumbo Pageant, Gumbo Cooking Contest, Delicious Cajun Cuisine, Large Midway, and more.
