Description of Event:
The impact of Jim Boyd and Billy Boyd’s body of work, together and individually, to the birth of Western Swing, also called Southern Jazz, can only be described as groundbreaking. Along with Bob Wills, Jim and Billy Boyd are considered founding fathers of the genre.
Ladonia is proud to claim the Boyd brothers as native sons and invite all lovers of Western Swing and Texas Music Festivals to attend the First Annual Boyd Music Festival on September 20, 2014.
Along with live music, some of Billy Boyd’s films will be shown, their music will be played and there will be dancing in the streets. Musicians playing many genres will be participating, so join us for a fantastic free family event!
