Description of Event:
Exhibitors will include publishers, indie bookstores, literary and literacy organizations, library services, writing programs, book artists, authors, and more. 150 local, national, and international authors will be reading, debating, and presenting in great spaces, both indoor and outside, throughout the Downtown Arts District, with selected venues on the UC Berkeley campus. The festival will showcase a major public art installation, dubbed the "100,000 Books Project," a structure made of books donated by the Internet Archive and disassembled by the public on the final afternoon, when all books will be available to take for free. Related, smaller installations will be scattered throughout the festival grounds. A Children's Arena will fill Civic Center Park with a performer's stage, literacy activities, and stimulating exhibits. Bonus: a free book for every child under 12, courtesy of Half Price Books.Information:
