Description of Event:
Since opening on July 1, 1911, Naval Station Great Lakes has celebrated our Nation’s birthday each & every year. For decades the celebration was solely inside the gates and brought together military families, civilians, and select guests from the community. In 1993, this holiday celebration was turned into an “open to the public” festival which gives all our neighbors the chance to see the base and celebrate our great Nation’s birthday right alongside the Navy community. The festival continues to draw in large crowds from all over the area to this day. The two day event is now a tradition for tens of thousands of people giving the military & our guests, the perfect place to celebrate our Nation’s independence!
