Solstice Celebration Summer Solstice Parade began in 1974, as a birthday celebration for a popular artist and mime named Michae. The 42nd annual Solstice Parade and Festival will feature artists, dancers and ensembles of all types walking, skating, peddling through the middle of Santa Barbara. The Festival is held at Alameda Park, which is at the end of Saturday's parade route between Santa Barbara St. and Anacapa St. and Sola St. and Micheltorena St. Alameda Park will feature a wonderful eclectic collection of live world music including famous local groups, food, arts and crafts. On Saturday and Sunday enjoy a special free children's festival and a DJ area for dancing and enjoying EDM music and a large drum circle keeps the beat going all afternoon. The festival now opens on Friday afternoon, which is like the "evening events of years past." It's a special evening, showcasing local talents with music, dance, performances. Some of the parade ensembles are featured as well as all of the food booths, arts and crafts vendors. Hours: Fri 4pm-9pm, Sat 12pm-8pm, Sun 12pm-6pmInformation:
